2009 Wild Hogs (focus group)

6731 miles and 13 states.

Why the focus group and how did it start. Every year at least three of us California wild hogs take a bike trip somewhere. This year we had planed on four of us but as the time got closer to our departure it came down to just two of us, Howard Hong and me, Bill Codori.

Our destination was a BMW motorcycle rally in Johnson City, Tennessee. All was going well till the heat of Needles, Calif. (111 that day) hit  us but hit Howard's 2004 Harley hard. See the first few photos of the damage that was done.

Now for the forming of the focus group. Howard being a true biker wasn't going to let a dead bike stop him from attending a motorcycle rally so he rented a Ford Focus and thus the focus group was born. Howard rack up a total of 5355 miles on the rental.

Dead bike parts.

The reflecting pool at Oklahoma bombing site.

Each end of the pool has an arch with the time of 9:01 and the other end of 9:03 the time for the senseless crime to do it's dirty work.

What looks like chairs is a monument to those who dies and are placed between the 9:01 and 9:03 arches for their time of death.

The many visitors to the monument leave a part of themself

Art works by youngsters and now a permanent part of the memorial.

The rescue workers leave their mark.

Remember the Alamo.

Wall of the Alamo.

Only a few block form the Alamo is the river walk of San Antonio. The river at one time was the main sewer system for the city.

The river walk now has many restaurants both on the walk and on the water plus shops and even a shopping mall.
