Nancy Mae Lund

We have lost another TWA Family Member.  I am not sure if I forwarded this to you.  If I did disregard it.

Nancy Mae Lund 1935 - 2021 Nancy waltzed smoothly out of this life on April 25, 2021 after complications from a fall. During her 85 years, her friends were touched by her generous, gentle spirit. She enjoyed her career as a flight attendant and supervisor with TWA, and she was the ultimate hostess in all her interactions, always trying to make others comfortable. Nancy was too busy focusing on others to draw attention to herself, so her accomplishments were often unknown. A competitive ballroom dancer, she once danced on TV on "The Merv Griffin Show," and she continued dancing into her 80s at local dances. As a talented artist, she illustrated a children's book, "Chippy, the Sea Lion That Lost Its Way," by Christine Haller. Her deep understanding of animals showed in her expressive drawings of the wandering sea lion. And many Mayflower Chorus concerts were enlivened with beautiful sets painted by Nancy, representing nature scenes, Christmas toys, chorus overseas tours, even stores along San Rafael's 4th Street. A long-term resident of Novato, Nancy was raised on a small farm in Napa, where she developed a love for animals, plants and the Napa Valley. She also relished her travels during her flying career, when she visited most of the major cities in Europe and some in South America. In the days before online shopping and long lines at the airport, she used one of her employee free passes for a 24-hour visit to London to buy dance shoes not available in the United States. Not ready to retire fully, Nancy worked as a hostess with Otis Spunkmeyer sky tours, on a vintage 1945 DC-3 propeller plane. She was perfect for the part, capturing a bygone era, as she served champagne to the 18 passengers in her 1940s uniform, complete with seamed stockings and a hairstyle from that period. Nancy sang with the Mayflower Chorus for almost 20 years and was chosen for the MECA, the Mayflower Exceptional Achievement Award. In addition to painting the enormous sets and designing flyers, she served as alto section leader, costume coordinator and make-up artist, and prepared artful gift baskets for the annual gala. Nancy will be missed by her many friends; her brother Leroy Lund in Costa Rica; her niece Leanne Eaton in Carson City, Nevada; and her nephew, Scott Lund in Napa. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held June 6, 2021. For more information, contact j_clemmons@hotmail.com.
